Happy Birthday Luke Wyatt!

We had a memorable celebration for Luke's first birthday the 21st.  We figured that Luke would only remember the day from pictures, so why not bring our favorite Eugenians together for a party WE would remember!

Tutu and I put together a fun array of tapas for the event...

We stored extra servings in the car to keep the goods away from various household animals...

Some fun shots of guests...

Last but certainly not least, the BIRTHDAY BOY!!!

Playing with Madeleine...

And Marin...

and Dad...

And Mom...

Madeleine guided Luke through present opening

The present of all presents: a teepee!

A scary Luke and Tutu shot

A nice Luke and Tutu shot...

Tasty cake: check, eager birthday boy: check, cake consumed? negative.  He didn't touch it!  I think he was reveling in his company (which didn't FAZE him!!! [we expected some tears from the crowd...our boy is a social one!])

Party harty.  Crash HARD! (Luke was comatose by the end of the evening.  Good times).

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count.  It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

Dad's back!

After a month apart, this Miller household is pretty excited that Dad's back in town visiting.  Here are the men of the hour ready to go on a run!

Hi Ho Halloween's Here

To get into the spirit of Halloween, Luke donned his Jack shirt for most of the week...

Twice during various outings people asked if his name was Jack.  I would reply, "witty, but no."

Lauren REALLY wanted to see Luke in a pumpkin...

Either we need a smaller kid or a larger pumpkin for this to be a success

(Luke is showing you the lights, just in case there was any confusion).

Some finishing touches on Luke's costume (that my mom and I survived making together with a pattern, some RIDICULOUSLY shedding fabric, a sewing machine, and some love)

"I HATE THIS COSTUME!!!!!!!"

This is my fake smile suffering through my costume...

"I'm humoring you, mom"

Too distracted by the 115 other costumes of Oak Hill kids to care what he's wearing...

Meet Harold...

Sylvester,

and Harriet.

Thankfully we had the Oak Hill parade which gave Luke the opportunity to be in his costume for over an hour Friday.  Saturday evening, we ran through the rain so Luke could "trick or treat" at three neighbor's houses...which lasted a total of 5 minutes.

He stayed in his costume for a while after trick or treating just because he could!

I left the goblin at him with Tutu and joined Ellie, Gina, Lauren, Ian, Nima, and Skylar for an evening of haunting ghost stories and soul dancing with the Essentials (who debuted their Thriller Michael Jackson tribute at midnight!)

Park Time

Brett hit the road Friday am and arrived in Colorado this evening (he made time for a run en route).  I had hoped to get away for the weekend so the pining would feel minimal, unfortunately, Luke's ear infection plus my own bout with a bug limited our travels to Eugene.

Luke, Tutu and I ventured to a nearby park this afternoon to get out of the house (and enjoy the sun while it was here!).
